SmX
CineWeave™ HD
Let's start with the key ingredient of the Pro-Line series, the
projector screen material. The SmX CineWeave™ HD is an audio
transparent projection screen material that will not only give
you one the most incredible projected images you'll ever see,
but will also allow audio to pass through the projector screen
material without distortion.
Pure
Color Accuracy
The CineWeave projection screen material starts with pure color accuracy.
The specially formulated white color of the CineWeave achieves
the most accurate color reproduction and gain from your
projector.
Other projector screens can color shift, making projected images
appear to push blue or red. This push of colors creates an
un-natural color balance to your projected image. The SmX is
completely neutral in color reproduction, thereby providing
complete balanced color uniformity for true natural vibrant
color.
Color measuring: x = +/-.002, y = +/-.003, measured with a Photo
Research PR-650 SpectraColorimeter using a NIST-traceable white
reference target. Color consistency is constantly monitored to
assure ISO 9000 standards. See
the hard numbers on the color and see comparisons...
Guaranteed
Moiré Free With All Digital and CRT Projectors
A huge problem with today's high resolution digital projectors
and audio transparent movie
screens is moiré. Moiré is caused when the projectior screens
perforation pattern aligns with the digital projectors pixel
pattern or screen door. Every projector, attachable lens, screen
size, offset and throw distance differs from person to person.
The only guaranty to eliminate moiré is to be able to adjust
for it on site. The SmX Pro-Line frame eliminates moiré
possibilities by allowing you to adjust the CineWeave™ HD
projector screen material on the fly.
Increased
Contrast
Another
special feature of the White CineWeave™ HD projection screen
material is its ability to increase the contrast of your
projected image. It usually takes a Grey projection screen to
increase contrast and using a Grey screen means having to
sacrifice gain (brightness).
The
White CineWeave™ HD weave was formulated to increase contrast
by using the voids throughout the acoustically transparent
screen. These voids produces just enough black without
sacrificing gain or resolution like a Grey solid screen or White
perforated screen.
You
can not achieve increased contrast like this from a solid white
projection screen, this is what makes the CineWeave™ HD
special.
Increased
Sharpness
The
SmX CineWeave™ HD helps increase the sharpness of your
projected image. This comes in handy for projectors with a
softer projected image such as D-ILA, LCOS and CRT technology.
The perceived sharpness of the SmX CineWeave™ HD even makes HD
projected images look cleaner with DLP and LCD technology. It
has been said that the sharpness the CineWeave™ HD provides a
sharper picture than some solid screens currently on the market
today.
160
Degree Viewing Angle
Screens
with a positive gain usually have narrow viewing cones.
This means that the screen's brightest point is usually in the
center when you are sitting in the center of the room. With
other high gain screens, the gain drops as low as half at 40
degrees off the center, similar to an older technology rear
projection TV.
The SmX CineWeave™ HD provides a full 160 degree viewing cone
without any loss of gain. This means that the image will be
consistently bright from edge to edge at all viewing angles.
Durability
The
SmX is an extremely strong screen material that will withstand the
test of time. It is impossible to tear by hand or by flying blunt
objects. It also can be easily cleaned using a mild white ivory
soap, water and soft brush.
10
Year Warranty
The SmX Pro-Line
Frame is backed with a 10 year warranty against manufacturer
defects.

Acoustically
Transparent - Needs No EQ

Unlike
perforated and micro-perforated screens, the SmX needs no EQ on
the speakers behind it. The SmX weave is truly audio transparent
and will not alter the sound of your speakers or comb filter audio
like a perforated screen will. Read

The
Highest Gain Weaved Screen (1.16 Gain)
SMX
is currently the highest gain weaved audio transparent projector
screen on the market. The gain of the SmX CineWeave™ HD gives
your projected image a back lit look to it. This means that your
projected image will not look as if it is just being projected on
a screen material such as other weaved screens with a negative
gain. Other current weaved AT screens on the market have negative
gains as low as -.83

The comparison above was done side by side with two other leading
matte white weaved screens using an IRE-100 projected image.
The
Soundstage as Hollywood intended
Unlike
a solid projection screen, the acoustically transparent SmX
CineWeave™ HD allows you to place your speakers directly behind
it. This is the same method Hollywood uses when they mix the
dialogue/soundtrack for movies. This localizes audio to come out
of the actors mouths as Hollywood intended it, not above or below
the screen.
No
Noticeable Perforation
How
does the SmX CineWeave™ HD perforation size compare to the
perforation of a perforatated or micro-perforated screen?
See actual size side by side comparisons below:

A
perforation in a micro-perf screen is about .02" ; this is
extremely small but still noticeable by many people viewing from a
seating distance.
The
perforation in the SmX CineWeave™ HD is about three and a half
times smaller than a Microperf! In fact, for every 65 holes on a
Microperf projection screen, the SMX has 182 perforations/sound
holes.
Clear
Consistent Bright Vibrant Image From Edge to Edge

Screens with a gain usually do not have a
consistent image from edge to edge. This is due to hot spotting
(see above) or brightness drop outside of narrow viewing cones.
This inconsistency is caused from using a pearlescent coating to
create a gain. SmX promises you a Clear, Consistent, Bright,
Vibrant Image From Edge to Edge.
No
Sparklies
Most screens with
gain use pearlescance to create a positive gain; this is known to
cause “sparklies” while viewing. The SmX does not use
pearlescence to get its gain, so there will be no sparklies during
viewing.
Black
Backing is Not Needed for Most Situations
Other weaved audio
transparent movie screens require a black backing
in order to assure that light does not pass through the screen and
reflect back something from behind the screen. SmX uses a opaque,
thicker material to help avoid the necessity of a black backing.

If your situation does require a black backing, the SmX Pro-Line
Frame is equipt with a second channel ready to accept a black
backing.
