PROCURV
Features:
A
flat projection screen reflects light back to the audience as
well as the side walls next to it. Light reflecting off the side
walls can reflect back to the projector screen washing out the
projected image. Light can also reflect the color of the wall
(including dark colored walls) back to the projection screen
causing an unwanted color shift of the projected image.
The
concave shape of the Pro-Curve directs the projected reflected
light towards the center of the viewing audience which helps
keep light off the side walls.
The
Curve
The
Pro-Curve comes in three standard radius curves. The three
radius' are, 40' (being the most commonly used), 30' and 20'.
The tighter radius' are known to help out people with very short
throw distances and heavier anamorphic distortion. Some people
prefer a tighter curved radius for a more dramatic curved screen
effect in their theater.

Besides
the three standard radius's we offer, custom radius curves can
be made as well.
Correction
of anamorphic lens distortion
Cinemascope
is widely becoming more popular in today's home theaters. More
and more home theater builders are using adaptable anamorphic
lenses and scalers to increase the resolution and light output
of the 2.35 aspect ratio projected image.
Anamorphic
lenses are known to distort the projected image by making the
center of the projected image more narrow than the edges. The
concave shape of the Pro-Curve projector screen reverses this
effect by bringing the ends of the screen closer to the audience
and pushing the center of the screen away from the audience thus
giving you a non distorted projected image.
A
little more info on anamorphic lenses...
When watching a 2.35:1 movie on a 16:9 projector and screen, the
unwanted black bars above and below the movie account for 33% of
loss resolution and up to 20% of loss light.
By
adding an anamorphic lens, scaler and Cinemascope screen, you
can eliminate the black bars and get 33% more resolution and up
to 20% more light from your projector. This is an incredible
upgrade in itself considering.
The
Frame
The
following comparison picture was shot with a camera and flash.
The SmX true black velvet (on the left side) and the leading
screen companies black flock trim (on the right side) were side
by side when the picture was shot.
Notice how the leading screen companies flock trim reflects all
the light from the camera flash, however the SmX true velvet
trim absorbs all the light from the camera flash.
Do you want a grey trimmed frame around your screen or a true
black one?
