In the efforts to ensure help you choose the
proper cable, we created a connection guide. Choose the
connector type below found on your equipment for usage diagram and cables
required.
Video
Cables
VGA Cables Standard VGA cables used
with PC monitors, most front projectors and even some rear
projection TV sets.
VGA Extension Cables
VGA extensions are
normally used when the display device such as some PC monitors
have fixed (permanent) VGA cables that cannot be
disconnected. Extensions cables can also be used in
conjunction with breakout cables (pigtails) when long runs and
connector conversions are needed.
VGA to RGBHV
5xBNC Cables
Many higher performance
display devices such as front projectors and professional PC
monitors use BNC connections (otherwise known as RGBHV).
These cables can also be used when display devices require 5 RCA
connections by adding converter/adapters to change BNC to
RCA.
VGA
to Y-Pb-Pr Cables (RCA)
VGA to component (Y-Pb-Pr)
cables can be used when a source or display can be configured to
send or receive both VGA or Component signals. The most
common products that use this cable includes scalers/video
processors, HDTV PC cards, and a few front projectors. **Note
that cables can not convert signal type, which may require a
transcoder**
Component
Cables
Component Y-Pb-Pr cables
are used in Progressive Scan DVD players and HDTV
set-top-boxes (S-Video cannot carry progressive/high-definition
signals).
BNC RGBHV Cables
VGA to RGBHV cables can be
used and interchanged. RGBHV cables are used in
installations requiring long runs and can be terminated after
installation or when conduits are too narrow to accommodate the
VGA header.
DVI to/from HDMI
Cables Used between video
video equipment to displays with DVI/HDMI connectors.
HDMI is backward compatible with DVI for video, but DVI cannot
carry audio signals.
